The Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani confirmed that three voters have passed away while waiting for their turn to vote in the 15th General Election (GE15) today.
He explained that the deaths occurred in two states, one in Kelantan and the other two in Johor.
Acryl said, “Three incidents that were quite devastating because the voters had health problems and died while queuing to vote.”
During the incident in Johor this morning, the Election Commission (SPR) in a statement explained that both were 85-year-old seniors who passed away, respectively at the Sembrong Parliament and Pulai Parliament polling stations.
According to a report by SPR, Sh Juhara Syed Mohamad passed away at 9:30 in the morning at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Ismail, Johor Bahru Electoral District.
He stated, “voters were found to have died suddenly after voting and suffered from breathing difficulties.
“The voter was found to have arrived at the voting channel in an unhealthy state but still wanted to continue to vote.”
In addition, Tuminah Ambiah died suddenly at 10.21 am at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Lit Terk, Kluang.
Furthermore, Acryl said, “the senior citizen died suddenly before voting and his death was confirmed by Malaysian Health Ministry staff who were at the scene.”
