Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) falls under the purview of the Health Ministry, it has also been acknowledged and practiced in some governmental clinics. However, under the MCO, it was not included under the list of essential sectors, says MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon.
In an official statement, Chong explained that many people have been depending on traditional and complementary medicine for their sickness are now “at their wit’s end” without their usual treatment.
He added, “allowing the traditional and complementary medicine sector to reopen will help lessen the burden on the public healthcare system.”
MCA urged the government to allow Traditional Chinese Medicine services to resume operations, so people who rely on TCM will be able to receive their usual treatment.
