The 11th session of International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Assembly will take place virtually from 18th January to 21st January 2021. Almost 2000 delegates from more than 150 governments, the private sector and civil society will gather virtually to discuss key issues in the global energy transformation and chart the way forward for the Agency against a backdrop of the current COVID-19 pandemic.
During the live session Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Malaysia, Dato Dr. Shamsul Annuar Nasarah said, “Malaysia has set a target of 31% renewable energy in power capacity by 2025 and 40% by 2035. The spillover effect from renewable energy development will benefit our people and our nation through provision of job opportunities, multiplier effect and wealth creation.”
Members share their goals and lessons learnt from project implementation to date, underlying the importance of just transition, community benefits including jobs and energy security.
