The Health Ministry (MOH) is in the process of obtaining ‘low dead-volume’ syringes needed to administer the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine injection, with local and foreign companies.
In a statement, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said, “the vaccine should be administered carefully because we need to avoid wastage, and the specific syringe also meets the requirement requested by the Pfizer company.”
Low dead-volume syringes generally refer to zero-waste syringes that guarantees an entire dose of the vaccine injected to the recipient.
Last Saturday, Dr Adhan has announced that MOH needed 12 million low dead-volume syringes for the first phase of the vaccination programme, which includes six million recipients or 20 percent of the country’s population.
