The Ministry of Transport (MOT) is urged to immediately address the issue of air ticket fares which have increased in the upcoming Hari Raya, especially in Sabah and Sarawak.
Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin said he received many complaints and grievances from Sabahans, regarding the soaring price of flight tickets.
In a Facebook post, he said, “people from Sabah complain and complain about this issue, MAS and Air Asia are seen as if they are sucking the blood of the passengers.”
According to Bung, an economy ticket could reach up to 3,600 ringgits for one trip.
Bung stressed that such a thing should never happen, as many will cancel their intention to return to Sabah to celebrate Hari Raya because they could not afford it.
Meanwhile, he added his dissatisfaction when Air Asia placed a condition where all passengers must check in through the machines provided, while passengers who check in through the counter will be charged 100 ringgits.
Furthermore, Bung reminded Air Asia that they must understand that there are still many elderly from villages who still do not know how to use ‘check-in’ through the machines provided.
